Napoleon Tower circular trail

In addition to the historical background, the Napoleon Tower circular hiking trail also presents a wonderful panoramic view of the Alps and Lake Constance. A panoramic circular hiking trail that starts directly at the hotel.

The trail starts to the west of the hotel. Only five minutes after the start, the path leads through Wolfstobel. This former church path was used 200 years ago by churchgoers to get to the church in Lipperswil for services. This was the starting point for the Wigoltinger trade in 1664, which cost two Wigoltingers their heads and almost led to a civil war in the old Confederation.

The section from Ifang to Fischbach is signposted with the Pilgrims' Path. This path was not used exclusively by pilgrims, but was a thoroughfare. Pilgrim's seals and buttons from Napoleonic uniforms have been found on this path. Even a copper coin from Augsburg has been found, which may have belonged to Louis Napoleon, who completed his secondary education in Augsburg and may have lost it on a wild ride over the Seerücken.

The Napoleon Tower, built in 2017, stands almost on the site of the historic Belvédère lookout tower, which Louis Napoléon had built together with Charles Parquin as a "pleasure building". Louis Napoléon, later Emperor Napoleon III, spent his adolescence at the Arenenberg. 208 steps guarantee a 360° panoramic view of Lake Constance, Untersee and the Swiss Alps!

Tip: It's worth taking a break on the bench in Helsighausen. On a clear day, you can see all the mountain peaks in the panoramic view.
